My mate, who was growing his hair at the same time as me, has had his cut short. I wish I’d have had a bet with him now and made some money. Although, at the start I wasn’t 100% confident I would last the whole year.
I haven’t had my hair touched at all this month. I literally haven’t had time. It does actually feel like it needs a little trim just to give it some shape but I think I’ll give it another month though before I have a trim. The back is still not as long as I want it to be, so hopefully another month of growth will help. It’s getting there though.
As my hair is getting longer it’s definitely getting easier to manage. Cutthroatpete Texture is still my saviour! It makes controlling my hair so easy and the bonus is that my hair never feels over loaded with product or greasy. The Texture spray just gives the right amount of hold to keep my hair off my face and gives a nice beachy, salty feel. (It also makes me feel like I’m on holiday every day).
One thing I have been debating this last few weeks is to maybe add some natural looking highlights through my hair. I really like the ‘surfer look’ and I’m not into my hair looking slick or overly groomed. I feel like the highlights would add some texture to this look. I will think about if for another week or so before I make a definite decision… so watch this space.
I have been wearing my headbands a lot more this month, more so because It’s annoying when I get hot and my fringe sticks to my sweaty forehead. Loads of people have been asking where I got the headbands from and I actually ended up buying about 4 or 5 from The Isle of Wight Festival. To be honest you can grab them from eBay for around £2 each although I’m pretty sure there are some designer brands making some now. The headband is something I will definitely stick with, I’m really quiet excited for my hair to be really long, I’ll use the band to keep my hair out of my face whilst I’m working.
I know theres a few people with me on the growing journey and I’m enjoying the update shots you’ve been sending me. It’s really surprising how many men are choosing to grow their hair longer, it’s actually making my work more interesting because I’m enjoying doing some longer haircuts as opposed to short faded hair cuts day in day out. Have you read my blog post about whether the fade is fading out yet?
Is there anyone else out there taking on the task of growing your hair out? How long are you going to go? This is the question most people are asking me now so to be honest I’m wanting it to grow to shoulder length at least. I really like that look and length and whilst I’ve still got a strong head of hair, why not?
